Ode To Back To School

All the kids around me are heading back to the class room this week and I thought I'd do a little reminiscing of those days.....I assume all of you had to have the perfect first day of school outfit that showed everyone how cool you still are (since they haven't seen you in a while) which also set the mood for the whole year.  If I were a modern teen this would be my first day outfit of choice (although I assume my mom would have made me wear shorts a little longer, of course I would then roll them up to this length after I waved goodbye...)

These are two of my favorite photographs of his and I thought posting them would be a nice way to start the weekend. Obviously I'm very attracted to these fabulous outfits with oversized hats, the first dress and jewel combination is out of control and even though the last shot is from 1996 I would wear the outfit today.  Maybe subconsciously I know fall is on the way and I'm already dreaming of fleeing the impending cold and focusing on resort? En Fuego

I can't lie, I didn't use to be a red hair fan but that has certainly changed, I'm finding myself so attracted to this color all summer.  A few redheads around town have turned my head and these two photos from Jackie Magazine got me, this girl looks good, I noticed her hair before the clothes!  So speaking of....I would love to cruise the fall in the first outfit, the camel & sheer purple together looks amazing.  The second dress fascinates me, I don't think I would wear it but I would love to hang out with someone who would and stare at it all night.  (It's another dress that looks like water.)


P.S. Happy Birthday Ashley, love you girl, I couldn't imagine living this life without you!!

Definite Trend

For those of you who have been reading the blog you know this is the third strange little black hat I've come across of late that sits right around the front of the forehead.  I know this is a bit more of a hat/hair piece but I do feel like it fits in the category.  The picture in general by Marcin Tyszka for Vogue Portugal is so beautiful, I love it all...hair, make-up, jewels, backdrop and although this dress sits a bit low for me (va va voom), I still think it's gorgeous.

New Fall Accessories

The Cambridge Satchel Co. has decided to ramp things up for the grown ups who are apparently demanding this typical student bag by offering the same satchel it's been making for years in a gorgeous green, deep purple and fire engine red.  (I imagine a few students are going to want them as well.)  Oliver Peoples and Balmain have come together to create some unisex slightly oversized sunglasses that are actually available without a waiting list.  It seems to me these new  accessories would look very good together.....

Military Fashion - A Historical Perspective

I thought this editorial was fascinating (I'm a dorky history buff) and had to share of course.  Its crazy to me that war is the ugliest thing in the world yet military inspired fashion is some of the cutest around, life's so yin/yang!  I know most wars are so corporations and governments can make huge profits which is completely horrendous but personally I do feel like a reincarnated general and tend to gravitate towards this style....My dream is that globally we are able to evolve, ditch the fighting and keep the clothes!

Hotness abounds in this incredible editorial from W Magazine September 2010, Lara Stone looks amazing with her hair white (almost like a ghost).  I love how the blue/green eyes go with everything, great with the bow tie/black pants, amazing with the scarf, epic with the orange jacket and blue like water in the last shot, her dress even looks like the sea.  I'm tempted because I've recently gone very blond and yesterday Haydee posted the best picture of a platinum blond on Happenstance and today now this, I must resist!

Tropical Delights

Being a lover of all things latin and a serious lover of the tropics this editorial is warming my heart....As I've said our Cali summer has had a few good days but in general it's not been the best, brrrrr is actually what comes to mind...This beautiful Latina has me dreaming of wearing these fun frocks in a spicy tropical land.  I can already feel the sun and smell the air, Puerto Rico, Belize, Costa Rica...they're calling my name!

Tight Tomboy

I read once that Raquel Zimmerman is the most underrated model in the business because she's such a chameleon and has so many looks that people don't recognize her!  Just look at that face, what a stunner and she really is so versatile, this Jill Sanders + Uniqlo fall add confirms it. This is one of my favorite shots so far this summer, she's one blue eyed sophisticated sex kitten.  The blouse is out of control (I can hardly take it) and her simple hair & make up give it such a refined playful look contrasted well with the raw backdrop.  I think a masquerade party of some sort is in order, I threw one once for New Years and it was really cool to see all the masks.

Foxy Fashion

Regardless if they're in style or not when it's a hot summer day the short short works for me but there's a fine line between wearing lingerie in public and wearing these hot lace shorts by Stone Cold Fox.  I believe these make the cut and I want this entire bejeweled outfit, it's sooo fricken cute!  (Well sans the cross earrings, they're just not me, I'd replace with a nice gold hoop....) 


P.S.  Love the side bun, I wear them all the time.  If you haven't tried it yet just pull it all to the side and brush it flush in the back, wrap it around in a circle and stick a bobby pin or two at the ends to hold it together, then spray!

Models Heidi Lindgren, Irina Shayk and Sessilee Lopez all rocked white at The Rooftop in NYC for the Sunset Over The Hudson annual party hosted by David Yurman last Thursday.  Although all three ladies looked lovely Heidi's dress (left) and Irina's (middle) are winners in my opinion....which one is your favorite?


P.S.  How's that chain necklace in the backdrop of the middle photo?? I have a huge silver chain in my collection that is very similar, I love this bold look.

Omg, I love this new Fall Guess ad!  In the days of Claudia Schiffer their ads were amazing but since then (and it's been a long time) it seems like they're always the same looking girls on a hay stack or motorcycle.  With this ad the brands keeps with their retro rockabilly theme while giving us something fresh and flirty.  I love her outfit with her free flowing blond locks (must replicate) and I love this photo, too cute.
